Many of us make New Year resolutions and, before the end of January, have broken most of the goals or changes that we were so convinced would get us off to a better year and better life.  I have been saying that I would like to be healthier since 2012 after a health scare.

I have implemented many wonderful things, like taking my supplements and getting regular check ups, but haven’t really stuck to losing the weight that I know will improve my health.  I have been unable to maintain what I started until I took the time to reflect and uncover why I allow the busyness of my work to be more important to me than my commitment to becoming 10 pounds healthier.  This December I have been using my time off to journal and recommit to my health.

“Understanding what you have can often help you realize exactly what you need to do to create the life that you are dreaming about.” #createthelifeofyourdreams

It is not surprising that in Feng Shui, our home (or in my case, my body – which is the home for my soul) reflects where we have been, not the current situation.  Just as my messy office reflects the neglect from not taking the time to straighten the clutter, my body reflects neglect that I have not taken the time to make the choices that would serve me in my health goal.  You see, it’s not about choosing a weight loss system or buying a gym membership, it is about deciding on the right thing for me to do, and then doing it.

In Feng Shui, it is not about the Stuff you want to do (or change), it’s about giving energy to the changes you want to make.  It also helps us to know what we really want.  Below are some first steps that I have taken to help me get back on track.  Hope that these will help you too.

3 Steps to energize change

  1.  Get intentional: Changes without intention aren’t empowered enough to get sustainable results. Listen deeply to yourself – remember to connect with your “Why” and make changes for you, not for someone else. Focus on what really matters to you.  For example, instead of wishing for a lot of money – shift your intention to having enough to pay your bills or take that trip or …   Focusing on the outcomes and creating a vision around what that would feel like, look like, be like, will help you make sure that you have uncovered your true intention.
  2.  Get engaged: Embody your intention. State your intention out loud, write it down, or better yet create a vision board and post it in a place where you will see it often. Talk about it with people that you trust. Spending time with yourself each day can help you make better choices when your intention is in front of you.  When faced with a difficult decision, ask yourself how this will effect being closer to what you want. Trust yourself to make the best decision for “you”.  A good mantra to say is “I know best, what’s best for me.”
  3. Get involved: The more involved you are in creating the changes you want to make, the stronger the connection will be between your intention and results. Visualizing what you want can be powerful and effective, but before you start your visualization, take pause daily to anchor the thoughts feelings of gratitude. Understanding what you have can often help you realize exactly what you need to do to create the life that you are dreaming about.

Remember to be positive, and stop the worry over what it is you want to do.  When you find yourself worrying, you are shifting your focus from your intention to something that you may not want to happen.  When you find yourself loosing ground, focus instead on how your many accomplishments make you feel.

This year, my focus will be to love myself more.  Spending a little more time on me.  Hopes, dreams and desires.  Some of that will mean that I will have to say “No” when things come up and I have a different plan for me.   It will also mean, saying “Yes” to myself when I have doubts, but know that it is right thing for me.  Even when it gets hard, I will have to remember that the loves of my life will benefit if I am healthier and happier.

What about you?  What will be your focus for a better year? What is your first step to creating the life of your dreams?  Let me know in the comments below.

Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year,

Susan
